Over recent years due to the bands overwhelming development and increased popularity we have noticed a significant growth in the number of engagement requests received. We are finding it increasingly difficult to meet all of these requests. So in order to cope with the demand we have restructured our engagements/concert bookings criteria.

Our organisation now encompasses four amateur musical groups involving around 60-80 people:
• The Harwich Royal British Legion Brass Band.
• The Harwich Royal British Legion Apprentice Band.
• The Harwich Royal British Legion Saturday Morning Music School.
• The Harwich Royal British Legion Drum Corps.

In order to sustain these groups with the ever increasing burden this places our finances we rely solely on the funds we are able to generate from:
• Concerts.
• Engagements.
• Fundraising.
• Charitable grants.
• Donations.

We feel it is very important to maintain our profile and support the local community in and around Harwich, so each year we:
1. Allocate a set number of engagements (usually for charitable organisations) that we will undertake completely free of charge.
2. For any further charitable requests we charge a set charitable fee (plus travelling allowance if outside of our local area).
3. Any additional requests outside of the above criteria are then discussed by the bands committee and quoted accordingly.

We consider each request based on its merit and the bands prior commitment schedule. We also in exceptional circumstances endeavour to undertake extra charitable engagements or short notice bookings.

I would ask you, that if for any reason we are unable to fulfil your engagement on this occasion, to place a request via the bands booking form as soon as possible for the future, even if you are unsure of an exact date at this time.

Indirectly I have heard certain organisations are dissatisfied that we do not offer our services completely free of charge. Unfortunately as I’m sure you will now understand, this is not possible.

The minimum fee charged is £150, but the actual fee for each booking is assessed taking into account venue, type of event and location.
