Hi All

Was interested to read Charlie Corroyer's history segment. I was a member of the Grange Band back in the late 60s and early 70s. I played trombone - taught by Irwin Searle (ex Yorkshire Imps player - I guested as solo trombone for the Imps recently at the Whit Marches - it was lovely to play for his old band).

Some of the old faces in the pictures brought back happy memories - although some of the names now elude me. Remember Dave Watson (flugel), Jim on euph, ?Jago on bass trombone, Ron Stock on G trom. I remember John Bawden and I absolutely convulsed with laughter at one concert long ago - neither of us could breath, never mind play!

I remember Les Henniker and his twin daughters. The rep player owned a shop in Upper Dovercourt if I remember correctly. Happy times - we all used to troop to the RAH annually to watch the competition and grand concert.

I wonder where they all are now? I know Nat Wringe has died - he sold me (at a ridiculously cheap sum) my first trombone, that I still have today (although I now play on a hand-made Rath). I thought the world of Nat - as did many people. A real character.

I have played with some of the biggest names in banding - Besses, Brighouse, Foden's, Imps, YBS, etc but I still remember my very humble beginnings at the Grange band with affection. I remember my solo debut at concerts at the old Cliff Pavilion being scared witless - as were the birds above the audience in more demonstrative fashion!

Kindest regards to everyone at the band and, if anyone remembers me, I'd be pleased to get in touch.

Happy Christmas all

Pete (Jones) ex Solo Trombone, Grange Band.
