Every Tuesday evening at Chase Lane Primary School in Dovercourt, during term time, a music school is run by volunteers from the Harwich Royal British legion Brass Band. The objective of the Music School is to make musical education fun, accessible and available to all in the local community and Tendring Peninsula at an affordable rate. The membership is open to all ages, races, backgrounds and disabilities. All staff at the Music School are from within the Harwich Royal British Legion Brass Band. Outside social events are organised throughout the year - including London shows and other local activities. We also embark on several fundraising events, in which the students get involved, to financially support the music school.

For our younger students Music School starts at 5pm and ends at 7pm. The more Advanced students have their lessons at 7pm and are expected to stay and play as part of the A120 Ensemble - a group comprising of advanced students and their teachers. The evening timetable is as follows:-

• 5 – 6pm Beginners Band
• 6 – 7pm Theory and Instrumental Lesson
• 7 – 7.30pm Advanced Instrumental Lessons
• 7.30 – 8.30pm A120 Ensemble

The ethos of the Music School is Affordable Music for All which is reflected in our current fee structure:-

• Beginners Brass Lesson £35 (£7 per week)
• Advanced Brass Lesson £40 (£8 per week)
• Percussion workshop £12.50 (£2.50 per week)
• Theory only £10 (£2 per week)

Included in the cost will be an instrumental lesson, theory instruction, Beginners Band/A120 Ensemble and the free loan of an instrument while in membership of the Music School.
